Our Goal

Our History

The Law Office of Robert D. Massey and Associates was founded in 1993 and has been in its current location at 211 West Madison since 2007. Since 1983, Mr. Massey has been trying cases mostly in the southern Middle Tennessee area in both state and federal courts. From 1987 to 1992, he served as the public defender for the 22nd Judicial District.

Robert D. Massey


Armed with a wealth of real world experience and expert staff, Robert D. Massey is proud to offer aggressive, economical and ethical representation to his clients in both civil and criminal courts throughout southern Middle Tennessee and beyond.

Our firm has represented physicians, lawyers, various businesses, persons with domestic relations issues and persons injured in accidents as well as those who are charged with criminal violations.  Continued


Mandi Burchell

Office Manager

Mandi was born and raised in Giles County. She graduated from Gateway Christian Academy and studied Accounting at Martin Methodist College. Mandi has a wonderful husband, Justin and three beautiful children, Levi, Colston and Averi. They actively attend church at The Well. The majority of their free time includes attending sporting events and spending time as a family. Mandi has previously been employed in the financing industry and currently serves as a legal assistant. She primarily works on civil cases.

Carlie Shelton

Legal Assistant

Carlie was born and raised in Fayetteville, Tennessee, where she graduated from Lincoln County High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Legal Assistant Studies in 2017. Carlie enjoys spending time with her family and riding horses on the weekends. She serves as the receptionist for the office (AKA air traffic controller).

Gail Martin


Gail is a native of Marshall County, but has made her home in Giles County for more than 25 years. Her work history includes various office settings, but she most enjoyed working at the Public Defender's Office and as a Misdemeanor Probation Officer (for ten years). She is happy to be back working in the field of law, and looks forward to learning much more while working in Mr. Massey's office. When she is not at work, she enjoys reading, flower and herb gardening and crafting.
